This is the privacy policy for Kirstin McKinnon’s Feminine Fortress Counselling. I am committed to keeping your personal data safe. This privacy policy exists to inform you of the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information under British Columbia’s Personal Information and Privacy Act (PIPA).
Personal data is any information about you by which you can be identified. This can include information such as: your name, email address, mailing address, or phone number. I will only collect, use, or disclose personal information that is necessary to fulfill the purpose of the collection. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time. I will not disclose personal information, unless I am authorized by PIPA or required by law (for example, in a court order, subpoena, or search warrant).
What data I collect and how I use it
I will only collect your personal data in line with applicable laws. I collect your personal data in the following circumstances:
- when you register for a workshop
- At the initial booking of a free inquiry call
- If you are a client
I use your data to:
- For workshops, I collect your name and email address to add you to the list of registered participants, and to send information to you about the workshop, such as the Zoom link, date and time, and required supplies.
- For inquiry calls and new client intakes, I collect client name, email address, address, preferred name, pronouns, phone number, and reason for seeking counselling. In a new client intake session, I also collect information on your personal situation/context. This ensures that you are a person who is seeking counselling, are a resident of British Columbia, you are contactable outside of the session if needed, I have a way of communicating information to you as needed, and that I am meeting the BC Association of Clinical Counsellor’s code of ethical conduct and standard for the content of clinical records.
Your personal information is never sold or shared.
Consent for collecting your personal data
I obtain consent for collecting your personal information in two ways. When registering for a workshop, consent is implied as you are volunteering your information for a clear purpose and a reasonable person would consider it appropriate in the circumstances. For inquiry calls and new client intakes, consent is provided in writing.
Security of your personal data
I have implemented appropriate technical controls to protect your personal data. Unfortunately, sending any information, including personal data, via the internet is not completely secure. Although I will do my best to protect your personal data, I cannot guarantee the security of any personal data emailed to me, and written on a sign-up sheet, and so you provide it at your own risk.

Analytics I may use third-party Service providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service. Google Ads Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor ad conversion to this website. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. You will only be contacted if you have signed up for a workshop, if you have registered for an inquiry call, or if you are a client. In these circumstances, I may contact you in case of an emergency, to provide you with relevant information, or to makes changes to a booked workshop or appointment.
